*BLINK*
Uh... so maybe I should open my mail a bit more often.

I have a letter in my hand, from the Cleveland Orchestra, inviting me to audition for a substitute violin.

*blink*

Holy. Shit.

I think I'm in a state of shock.

I suppose... nothing to lose by just sending in my resume... Just have a shitload of music to find.

*sigh*
Well, the list is up and I didn't get in. I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be. I'm really fucking pissed off.

1. The girl who is playing Jo -- couldn't even come to call backs as she was "at a performance out of state". So... because EVERYONE ELSE could be there, she gets a freebie and right in for Jo?

2. Three out of the four March sisters were cast from the girls who were up for Jo. So... how is that fair to any of us who had two fucking days to prepare other material for Meg? Whereas everyone knows the stuff that Jo has to sing, especially as the song to sing for callbacks was "Astonishing".

I'm really pissed off. The casting is horrible for this. No one is the right ages. None of the girls really LOOK alike and like a family.

This is absolute bull shit is what it is.

I'll tell you one thing. If I wasn't cast because they think I'm going to play in the pit and they need a violin in the pit (as it's a huge string show) they have another fucking thing coming.

And we're off!
Off to the callbacks that is. Once this whole experience is over I'll be back to replying to comments. I just have been really, really concentrating on preparing for this audition. Found out yesterday that the turnout was somewhere between 40-50 girls for 4 roles. And they're calling back 12.

So... yeah. *gulp*

Wish me luck! I'll be back with a full update on how it went. :D

Little Women
First of all, thank you to everyone for their well wishes. They... let's just say they mean the world to me. I'll answer more personally later, but I at least wanted to say thank you. ♥♥

Audition results come out on Friday. Consequently, this has been the longest week of my life.

BUT!

I just got an email from Almi that... there are call-backs and I'm up for a call back. Which is most DEFINITELY yay.

However... I'm up for Meg, not Jo. This wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't for the fact that Meg is a soprano and I'm decidedly... not. Meg hits high Gb-s... Jo has one insanely high note, but otherwise, she's more of a mezzo. And looking at everyone who is up for Jo... they're all sopranos and all the ones up for Meg are altos/mezzos. So I don't get it.

I'm going to do it, of course -- but it just seems odd.

Thoughts or advice? *looks at seasoned actors around here* would you call/email and ask if there was a mistake on the call-back sheet? Or should I just go to the callback and see what happens?

Whelp... my audition is today. I've kept this under wraps because... I actually haven't said a word to anyone around here before a few days ago. I'm auditioning for our production of Little Women and I'm going for Jo. And I know the competition out there, but dammit, I can sing the hell out of "Astonishing"... so... we're giving it a shot. Good luck vibes will be muchly appreciated!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
